The Eating Disorders Program for Males at River Oaks Hospital recognizes the unique challenges involved in the treatment of males who suffer from anorexia, bulimia and related eating disorders. The problems males express through eating disorders are often compounded by substance abuse and/or struggles with intimacy, shame and fear of stigma. This program offers access to care for many patients who in the past may never have sought help.
Comprehensive treatment for adult and adolescent males at River Oaks Hospital utilizes specialized programming designed to confront gender-bias and cultural belief systems that can predispose males to unhealthy lifestyles and unfulfilling relationships. Individualized treatment, often provided by male clinicians, nursing staff, and adjunctive therapists, provides healthy modeling for effective living within a co-educational milieu. This approach compliments a holistic approach to the restoration of health, well-being, and productivity. Inpatient and partial hospitalization programs, specifically designed for male patients, offer a comprehensive treatment approach for this unique and growing population.
