  The Senior Care Program

The Senior Care Program at River Oaks Hospital offers a comprehensive inpatient treatment approach to stabilizing acute psychiatric problems in the aging population. The program is designed to develop comprehensive mental health services to treat adults age 55 and older..

Our program is designed to address a multitude of psychiatric problems including symptoms of depression, paranoia, anxiety, and mild to moderate dementia. Individuals experiencing confusion, increased anxiety, suicidal tendencies, insomnia, disruptive behavior and loss of appetite also benefit from treatment.

The assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the older adult is multifaceted, interactive and individualized. Patients in crisis will find a safe and structured environment that offers compassion and hope. Our multi-disciplinary treatment team includes physicians, nurses, activity therapists, a registered dietician, and qualified licensed mental health professionals.

Medical services are provided for those condtions that may be managed in a freestanding psychiatric facility. Interventions are designed to educate patients with practical tools to manage their symptoms and improve their coping skills. The ultimate goal of treatment is to provide behavioral and medical care to stabilize each individual and improve their quality of life while ensuring dignity, privacy and comfort.
